Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) It's an interesting mixture that Chris Hauer presents us with here... The instrumental parts draw heavily on post-minimalism, while the vocal sections remind me of "Canterbury" tunes and the wonderful R. Stevie Moore stuff of the 80's. Very inventive, and highly pleasant to listen to! Found in Willy Vlyminck's collection, by the way. Favorite track: Horticulture.

Shoulder 08:36
Zoned out Now sets in Your new face sits Unnatural on its own Malleable by situation Hold that As an asset Shapeshift and bend Measured by those you know Comparable thoughts take hold In a while As those thoughts compile Deterministic And just out of vision Over your shoulder Grow up Then back down again You two season Can't keep on starting again Splinter off or sack the alternative Now look Sky's the limit But you're too grounded Feel it's not what you put in Throwing salt into the ocean In a while As those thoughts compile It's fatalistic And just out of vision Over your shoulder Over your shoulder I can see The vacant lot that holds apart The sum of what You are and can be

Found something now that sets my musing straight Lifts up the veil and takes the grey away Dancing around it not saying a thing Caught up in the moment when things start turning strange This rhythm of rhythms is becoming ingrained Forge new surroundings in familiar space Don’t realize until it’s too late This pattern of patterns is becoming ingrained But this is hardly a thing that I am known for Yeah, this is hardly a thing for which I am known

Horticulture 02:47
So You’ve had some time to thing about If you have no sense of purpose That’s something you can live without Another endless source of doubt Horticulture is a loaded word How Your time has formed a figure eight You can call it something serious Call it a will to make mistakes Throw it away, empty weight Horticulture is a loaded word Now That your thoughts sit up above They hold a higher purpose [But you] still don’t know what you’re thinking of Well take the chance, [if you’ve] had enough Horticulture is my favourite word But if you know something I don’t I’m gonna implode
5.
Holding 04:48
Holding The tip of a candle flame Standing there In a frame I probably should have met you When you were [twenty-two/twenty too] But you’ll be there to laugh as These thoughts keep coming though And in a word What I would like to achieve Complacency I’m trying to resolve that In everything
6.
Erasure 08:48
Focus it up But it’s impossible to simply try to think the thought back to its place When you’re in a dark room You need more than a spark to illuminate But you can sense the form and shape No line Can’t pull it back up from wherever it sank in The mush of my brain But I can see its outline rippling And then it’s gone in an instant And back in a day No fool Walked through a doorframe Harsh lighting in the hallway Indiscernible day-to-day Ghost asleep at the wheel Mimetic moments Growing in frequency I’ve noticed Light flashing off capillary waves Phasing in and out with the day Just a piece strobing away But the majority remains Unchanged See them Above Bursting out of Dendrons Neural cloud spreads Out Boundless To random Destinations Spurs an unconnected Scene from When You were so young What was The point of even bringing it up?
